‘Super One’ is a well-known brand in Myanmar, which has many branches from a small convenience store to a large hyper-mart. Since this branch is located at Hlaing Thar Yar which is the northern street way linked from Yangon to Nay Pyi Taw (Capital city of Myanmar), it will be opened to support all traffic with various types of people, such as business people, employees, students, etc.
An existing building is a four level building with reinforced concrete structure building, so the requirement from the clients is to rearrange all function inside and also master plan outside the building. The function contains four level of hypermarket, supermarket and restaurant, plus extension area which is a ‘Food Park’.
From our initiated design concept which is ‘a gift box’, the facade design was interpreted into a dynamic box which extrudes itself in different layers by following an existing building and functions inside. There are two types of wall, the first one is opaque wall and concealed by EXPANDED METAL (steel grating). The second one is a glass / transparent wall, which allows natural sunlight into the building. Moreover, at night, this dynamic box will become a colourful and joyful box since LED colour light were installed behind the facade. Material using for another extension, the roof on roof top, was designed by concerning about load carry on top of the building. So, using steel structure and metal sheet roofing in order to decrease the weight and easy to construct.
