PROJECT .period house TYPE residential LOCATION Tararom, Ramkamhang 150, Bangkok, Thailand OWNER Pathompoom Kooanupong SITE AREA 140 sq.wah USED AREA 420 sq.m. STATUS construction -
.period is designed to be a house where a family consisting of members who were born in different periods of time can spend periods of time together. It is located on a 140 square meter plot of land at the end of a secondary street, giving it a peaceful environment.
On the first floor, the space is organized to maximize privacy for the elderly while they spend time in their bedrooms, to provide shared space between generations and to define a specific route for guests. The bedrooms for elderly are located at the back of the house, where each has access to the outdoor terrace, allowing them to take a stroll around the house. The bay window sofa also allows interaction to the outside while staying in their rooms. The elderly also have easy access to shared space including an open plan living area, onsen, and pavilion. The two glass voids allow sunlight and view of nature to enter the living room. The onsen is located at the back connecting to the outdoor terrace and the garden. The pavilion is located at the front, providing space to relax outdoors. As the private and shared space are separated, the route for guests is defined, avoiding any disturbance to private spaces.
The second floor is for the younger generations consisting of 3 bedrooms and a sanctuary room. The corridor connecting the master bedroom and 2 bedrooms is located above the courtyard which takes up a double space. The master bedroom also comes with a private balcony. The sanctuary room occupies a small yet sufficient space with a glass void, allowing sunlight to enter.
Wood and light colors are the main tones for finishing materials, creating the mood of a Japanese house, matching with the onsen. These finishings make the house feel cozy and comfortable for a family of different generations to live in.
