ENCASE 14
PROJECT ENCASE 14 TYPE residential LOCATION Bangwaek 49, Bangkok, Thailand OWNER Suchitra Boonchokchuay SITE AREA 66 sq.wah USED AREA 296 sq.m. STATUS construction -
‘Encase 14’ is designed for a family of four consisting of parents and two sons, located within the 264 square meters land plot in Bangkok. While keeping the budget under control, the space is utilized, encasing a functional yet comfortable house within the limited space.
To make the most use of the land, the setbacks are used as an outdoor terrace. The mass at the East is subtracted, providing space for carport and green area. The use of slanted roofs also lowers the cost of construction and maintenance due to water leakage. The first floor consists of a kitchen, bedroom and an open-plan living area. The living area is separated into two zones for two groups of family members; sons and parents, where both are duplex. The living area for sons takes up a double space from the 2nd level, where there is their shared living room and a bedroom connecting to an outdoor balcony, to mezzanine level where there is a multi-function area and another bedroom. The living area for parents also takes up a double space from the 1st floor living area to the master bedroom on the 2nd floor. Despite being separated, both zones are visually connected, allowing connection between parents and sons while providing private space for both groups.
Finishing materials for ‘Encase 14’ are mainly white walls as well as glass voids which are located mainly in the North and the East to avoid any direct sun heat from entering the house.
